Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about flat soundproofing installation. If you need additional information, our specialists are ready to provide detailed consultation.

Installation duration depends on the scope of work and materials selected. For a standard two-bedroom flat in London, treating walls and ceilings typically requires 3 to 5 working days. This includes surface preparation, installation of acoustic panels or mineral wool layers, and finishing work.

If you need comprehensive treatment including floors, the project may extend to 7-10 days. We always provide a detailed timeline during the initial consultation, accounting for your flat's specific characteristics and the materials chosen. Our team works efficiently to minimize disruption to your daily routine.

Modern materials allow effective noise reduction with minimal space loss. Standard wall treatment typically adds 30-60mm per surface, depending on the system selected. For a 4x4 metre room, this translates to approximately 0.24-0.48 square metres of floor area reduction.

We offer slim-profile solutions for flats where space is premium. These systems use high-density acoustic panels that achieve excellent results while adding only 25-35mm. During consultation, we assess your rooms and recommend options that balance performance with spatial considerations. Ceiling treatments typically require 40-80mm depending on the method used.

Results vary based on noise type, existing construction, and materials installed. Our standard wall systems typically achieve 45-55 decibel reduction for airborne sounds like voices, television, or music. Impact noise from footsteps or furniture movement requires floor treatment, which can reduce transmission by 20-30 decibels.

For reference, a 10-decibel reduction makes noise seem half as loud to human ears. Most clients report significant improvement in comfort and sleep quality. We measure existing noise levels during assessment and provide realistic expectations for your specific situation. Premium systems combining multiple material layers can achieve even higher performance, approaching 60-65 decibel reduction.

For rental properties, you should obtain written permission from your landlord before proceeding. Most landlords approve such improvements as they increase property value and tenant satisfaction. We provide detailed documentation of planned work that you can present for approval.

In leasehold flats, check your lease agreement regarding alterations. Many buildings in London require notification to management, particularly for work affecting shared walls or structures. Floor treatments often need approval as they may impact fire ratings or structural elements. We have extensive experience working within building regulations and can advise on requirements specific to your property type and location.

Absolutely. Once acoustic layers are installed, surfaces can be finished to match your interior design. We work with standard plasterboard that accepts any paint colour, wallpaper, or decorative finish. For ceilings, options include smooth plaster, textured finishes, or suspended systems with various tile styles.

Many clients in areas like Islington or Camden choose to refresh their entire room decoration following installation. We coordinate with decorators if needed, or you can arrange finishing yourself. Our installations create smooth, even surfaces ready for any treatment. We also offer acoustic fabric panels in various colours for spaces where exposed acoustic treatment suits the design aesthetic, popular in home offices or music rooms.

Soundproofing installation process

Our Story

Qecuni started when our founder, an acoustic engineer, moved into a flat near King's Cross. The constant noise from trains and street traffic made it impossible to work from home or sleep properly. After successfully treating his own apartment, neighbours began asking for help.

What began as a small operation in North London has grown into a team of 12 certified specialists. We've completed over 850 residential projects across Greater London, from studio flats in Shoreditch to family homes in Richmond.

Our approach combines technical expertise with practical understanding. Every member of our installation team holds NVQ Level 3 in Interior Systems and has completed specialized training in acoustic materials application.

What Drives Us

We believe everyone deserves a quiet home. Urban living shouldn't mean sacrificing peace. Our work focuses on measurable noise reduction using materials that meet British Standards BS 8233 for residential acoustic environments.

Rather than promising transformations, we provide specific decibel reduction figures based on your property type and noise sources. A typical bedroom installation reduces external noise by 35-45 decibels, while party wall treatments achieve 40-50 decibel reduction.

How We Work

Technical Precision

We conduct acoustic surveys using calibrated Class 1 sound level meters. Every installation follows manufacturer specifications and building regulations Part E.

Material Standards

We use only products with verified acoustic performance data: Rockwool RW3, Gyproc SoundBloc, and Green Glue damping compound. No untested materials.

Clear Communication

You receive a detailed quote showing material costs, labour hours, and expected noise reduction. No hidden fees or vague estimates.
